Serving the Evangelical Church in Spain

What Are We Doing?
The SEND Spain field is growing, with singles and couples involved in church planting, youth outreach, university ministry, MK education and training Spanish youth leaders. April 2008, Craig was elected Area Director for the SEND team in Spain. He will continue assisting in church planting work while assuming responsibility for the leadership and administration of SEND Spain.

Objectives: To contribute to the church planting effort in a culture resistant to the gospel and assist the on-going and expanding ministry of SEND Spain through the use of administrative skills.

Specific activities we are involved in:

  • Financial management of the field resources
  • Assisting SEND church planting ministry teams in organization and team building including helping integrate new missionaries into local teams
  • Working with field missionaries to formulate field projects and how to implement them including financial planning and communicating these projects to others
  • Coordinating short-term missionaries and work teams including identifying where there are short-term needs and logistical support
  • Ministering with a church planting team by being involved in Bible teaching, visitation and personal evangelism
  • Providing field orientation for new, full-time members
  • Providing assistance to the MK Christian School nearby

The SEND Spain field is developing a new outreach ministry called METAS. This has been registered with the Spanish authorities as a non-governmental organization with the purpose of addressing social needs within local communities. Because the majority of people in need are resistant to evangelical churches, the METAS organization is not directly tied to any established church. Instead it is a bridge into the community where in most cases the church could not go. The social needs targeted include marriage building, family issues, adult education such as English or computers, employment assistance such as resume' writing and other social aid such as clothing and food distribution. This ministry is still in the development stage, but could prove to be a great tool for breaking down the barriers between the Spanish people and Christ. As this ministry develops, there will be need for short-term people to be involved. If you are interested in finding out how you might help, please contact us.
